Make appearance measurable and comparable

Finish descriptions can mean different things in different supply chains. For appearance-critical work, a physical sample helps align the expected grain and texture. State the viewing direction, application and any acceptance criteria together with the finish name.

Connect the finish to the processing route

Abrasive grit, pressure, line speed, belt condition and the number of active heads affect the result. Sheye combines multi-head coil grinding with cleaning, drying, film and protected recoiling. The normal rated route covers 0.3–3.5 mm thickness and 1,000–1,580 mm width; the exact order remains subject to technical review.

Treat protection as part of the specification

The appearance at dispatch is only one part of the requirement. Film adhesion, thickness, peel direction and compatibility with later processing should suit the end use. Surface protection and interleaving need to be considered before processing, alongside the approved sample.

Use sample results in their proper context

A surface roughness reading from one sample describes that sample. It should not be applied to every finish, grade or order. Where roughness matters, agree the target and measurement method for the specific material and process.
