Sheye Metal supplied TISCO 304 2B stainless steel coil in 1.5 × 1524 mm for a customer in Colombia. The customer specified TISCO origin as part of its purchasing requirements, alongside the grade, surface and dimensions.
The inspection photographs show how we checked the coil before packing: thickness and width measurements, handheld positive material identification (PMI), marking review and visual examination. The accompanying mill certificate provides the source-coil chemistry, mechanical test data and a recorded intergranular corrosion test result.
The Colombia order: 1.5 mm coil, 1524 mm wide
| Grade | 304 stainless steel |
|---|---|
| Mill origin | TISCO — Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. |
| Product and finish | Cold-rolled stainless steel coil, 2B |
| Nominal dimensions | 1.5 × 1524 mm × C |
| Width in inches | 60 in (1524 mm) |
| Destination | Colombia |
| Heat number | A2601598 |
| Source-coil material number | FA604C2440S20 |
In this size designation, “C” identifies coil form. Buyers sourcing a 304 stainless steel coil at 1524 mm width should also agree the coil weight, inside diameter, edge condition and dimensional tolerances. These details determine whether the material suits the receiving line and planned processing.
TISCO origin backed by a traceable mill certificate
A specified mill is an identifiable starting point for purchasing and quality control. For this order, the TISCO certificate links the material number and heat number to the grade, delivery condition and test results. Sheye Metal’s inspection records then document the physical coil prepared for the customer.
The supplied EN 10204 type 3.1 certificate identifies ASTM A240/A240M-25a as the product specification. It lists 304 cold-rolled coil with a 2B surface, solution annealing and pickling.
| Certificate item | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Carbon, heat analysis | 0.04 wt.% |
| Chromium, heat analysis | 18.23 wt.% |
| Nickel, heat analysis | 8.03 wt.% |
| 0.2% proof strength, Rp0.2 | 274 MPa |
| Tensile strength, Rm | 665 MPa |
| Elongation, A50 | 63% |
These are the mill’s recorded results for the source material. The certificate and the subsequent inspection photographs have different scopes: the former reports the source-coil tests, while the latter records the checks shown during preparation for this order.

Pre-packing checks on the 304 2B stainless steel coil
Thickness and width
The photographed micrometer readings are 1.467, 1.467 and 1.468 mm. These are point measurements on a nominal 1.5 mm product. Acceptance is assessed against the agreed order tolerance and measurement procedure; the photographs alone do not establish a tolerance result for the full coil.
A tape measure was used to check the nominal 1524 mm width. The overview and edge detail below show the measurement arrangement and the material being inspected.
PMI alloy identification
The handheld analyzer displays 304, with chromium at 18.45% and nickel at 8.44%. This spot check supports alloy identification alongside the mill documentation.

Handheld XRF does not directly measure carbon or establish intergranular corrosion performance. The certificate’s heat analysis and specified corrosion test provide those separate records. Evident explains the scope of handheld XRF PMI.
Marking and visible condition
The coil marking includes 304, 2B, 1.5 × 1524 × C and heat A2601598. That heat number matches the supplied TISCO certificate and provides a traceability reference during handling and subsequent processing.

The overview photograph also records the accessible surface and coil condition at inspection. During processing, Sheye Metal checks for visible defects and removes or segregates affected sections where identified, according to the order requirements.
What the intergranular corrosion result means
The recorded ASTM A262 Practice E result gives this buyer a specific, documented corrosion-test reference. Its scope is susceptibility to intergranular attack under the stated test conditions. It does not establish resistance to every corrosive environment or every form of corrosion. ASTM’s published scope for A262 makes this distinction.
For 304 stainless steel, subsequent welding, heat treatment or prolonged elevated-temperature exposure can change the material condition and create a risk of sensitization. Fabrication parameters therefore remain important after delivery. The IMOA fabrication guide for austenitic stainless steels, section 6.3, discusses this relationship.
Controlled processing supports consistent supply
Sheye Metal combines mill sourcing with checks at the processing centre. Material identification, agreed dimensions, surface inspection and packing requirements are handled through controlled procedures. Operators work to those requirements, with changes managed through the quality process.
For the Colombia customer, this provides a consistent basis for review: TISCO source documentation linked to the marked coil, together with the inspection records shown here. Our quality control approach connects these records through receiving, processing and release.
