A distributor may need only one or two tonnes of 304 NO.4 FLPE stainless steel sheet in a size that local stock ranges do not regularly cover. For this Australian order, Sheye Metal prepared 1.2 × 914 × 1829 mm sheets by bringing compatible requirements into a coordinated coil-processing schedule. The result combines a less common sheet width with careful film protection, aligned stacking and export packing.

914 mm wide sheets for an Australian customer

In Sheye’s sourcing experience, familiar domestic formats include 1219 × 2438 mm, 1500 × 3000 mm and 1000 × 2000 mm. International distributors also request formats such as 1524 × 3048 mm, 1250 × 2500 mm, 914 × 1829 mm and 914 × 3048 mm. A size that is routine for a customer’s market can therefore require a specific processing plan in China.

This order called for 304 NO.4 FLPE stainless steel sheet in 1.2 × 914 × 1829 mm. The 914 mm width is commonly described in trade as nominal 3 ft wide; the metric dimensions define this order. FLPE is retained here as the order designation for the laser-film-protected sheets. The photographs show NOVACEL printing on the protective film.

How can a one- or two-tonne order fit a coil-processing run?

A small order still needs machine setup, suitable parent material and a workable finishing sequence. When a supplier serves mainly standard domestic sizes, an isolated 914 mm requirement can be difficult to accommodate. Sheye focuses on international and demanding domestic customers, bringing together distributor requirements that range from one or two tonnes to three or five tonnes and larger volumes.

Our scheduling system groups compatible grade, thickness and finishing requirements. For example, a small 1.2 mm 304 NO.4 FLPE order can be planned alongside another customer’s 304 NO.4 sheets with ordinary 70 μm black-and-white film. The shared opportunity is the upstream material and NO.4 processing requirement. Material allocated to each order retains its own film specification, identification and finished dimensions.

This approach helps distribute preparation work across a practical production schedule. It does not require the smaller buyer to take the whole coil or accept a different protective film. Availability, the combination of compatible orders and production timing are confirmed for each enquiry.

From a 1219 mm parent coil to 914 mm finished width

The route starts with 1.2 × 1219 mm × C coil. Sheye first processes the coil to the specified NO.4 finish. On the slitting line, protective film is applied inline, with a belt-tension arrangement used to help protect the film-covered face during tensioning and recoiling. Slitting and edge trimming prepare the allocated material at 914 mm width.

The protected 914 mm coil then moves to cut-to-length processing for the specified sheet length. Separate order allocations follow their own film and length requirements within the coordinated plan, so each customer’s specification remains clear throughout preparation.

Protect the film as carefully as the finish beneath it

The close views show smoothly covered sheet faces and orderly corners, without obvious bubbles or scuffing in the photographed areas. Keeping the film in good condition helps preserve its protective role during subsequent handling. The NO.4 face is covered, so these photographs show the protection and presentation rather than an inspection of the exposed finish.

Laser-film requirements also deserve a clear distinction from ordinary protection. NOVACEL’s laser-cutting guidance treats film selection as process-specific and recommends appropriate application conditions and preliminary testing. The ordinary 70 μm black-and-white film in the companion order is a separate requirement; it should not automatically be treated as a laser-cutting film.

The edge photograph gives a closer view of the cut faces and stack alignment. The marking photograph records the order designation and nominal size on the protected face, helping relate the sheets to order records when a pack is opened.

Carry surface care through the packing stage

After stacking, corrugated board covers the top of the pack and kraft wrapping is folded and secured around it. The photographs show squared corners, supported sheets and close attention to the pack’s shape. These details help keep the protected sheets together and reduce unnecessary contact during handling.

The visible HT mark on the timber packaging identifies heat treatment, as explained in Australia’s ISPM 15 guidance. The packing photographs document preparation of this order. Specific destination and receiving requirements are addressed through the agreed export packing arrangements.
