A sheet that is 1500mm wide leaves a 24mm shortfall when the cutting plan calls for 1524mm. For this customer in Colombia, Sheye Metal supplied 304 2B 4mm stainless steel sheet in 1524 × 6096mm dimensions, with slit edges. The width and length correspond to a 5′ × 20′ format, with thickness specified separately in millimetres.

Sheye Metal includes material for 4mm 304 2B orders at a finished width of 1524mm in its regular stock planning. The inspection records from this order follow the material from its TISCO parent coil to the marked, cut sheets.

For buyers searching for a 304 stainless steel sheet supplier, the useful specification is the whole combination: grade, surface, thickness, finished dimensions and edge condition. “304 2B” alone does not define the sheet that will arrive at the workshop.

Why 1524mm width matters for a 5-foot order

Imperial sheet formats remain familiar in Colombian stainless steel supply. For example, Imporinox’s Colombian sheet catalogue lists 4′ × 8′, 5′ × 10′ and 5′ × 20′ formats for 304/304L. The 1524 × 6096mm order keeps the same 5-foot width as a 5′ × 10′ sheet and doubles its length.

Common format notation and metric dimensions
Format Width × length Reading the specification
4′ × 8′ 1219 × 2438mm, rounded trade notation Exact conversion: 1219.2 × 2438.4mm
5′ × 10′ 1524 × 3048mm 5-foot width, 10-foot length
5′ × 20′ 1524 × 6096mm The width and length ordered in this case

A 1500 × 6000mm sheet is 24mm narrower and 96mm shorter than 1524 × 6096mm. Substituting it can change nesting, part counts or the dimensions available for a long component. Any alternative size needs to be checked against the customer’s drawings and cutting plan before an order is placed.

ASTM A240/A240M specifies chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel plate, sheet and strip, including composition and mechanical requirements. It does not make 5′ × 20′ the mandatory stock size. Buyers still need to state dimensions, finish and edge condition; applicable general requirements and dimensional tolerances should be agreed with reference to ASTM A480/A480M and the purchase specification.

Specify the governing unit system as well. ASTM treats SI and inch-pound requirements separately; a familiar foot-size description does not by itself select the applicable tolerance tables.

From parent-coil identification to finished-sheet dimensions

The original coil label identifies 4 × 1561 × C, 2B, mill edge. For this order, Sheye Metal trimmed the 1561mm parent coil to a finished width of 1524mm, then cut it into 6096mm lengths. The finished sheet marking reads 4 × 1524 × 6096.

Slitting prepares the longitudinal edges, while cut-to-length processing produces the required sheet length. “Slit edge” describes the prepared long edges and should be listed separately from length and surface finish on the order. The mill certificate itself records 4 × 1524mm with mill edge, a different entry from the incoming coil label. That original entry is retained in the public reference copy; the processing and inspection documents specify the finished sheet dimensions and slit-edge condition.

The complete parent-coil label shows TISCO 304, 2B, 4 × 1561 × C and mill edge. Its heat reference matches the finished sheet marking.

This is how Sheye’s export stock planning supports a size that may be outside another supplier’s usual stock list. We hold coil resources with overseas finished dimensions in mind, including 304 stainless steel coil for subsequent processing. Buyers can ask for 304 2B 4 × 1524mm supply without having to accept 1500mm simply because it is the size offered first. Available quantities and processing schedules are confirmed at enquiry.

Inspection records from the processing line

The supplied photographs show thickness checks at three points, width and length checks, and the finished sheet marking. They give a practical view of what is checked while preparing an overseas order.

The three digital micrometer displays read 3.961mm, 3.958mm and 3.949mm. These are individual photographed measurements, shown in the same order below.

Digital micrometer at the edge of a nominal 4 mm 304 2B stainless steel sheet, displaying 3.961 mm.
The first photographed thickness check reads 3.961 mm. This is an individual inspection point on nominal 4 mm material.
A digital micrometer displaying 3.958 mm during a 304 2B sheet thickness inspection.
The second photographed spot measurement reads 3.958 mm.
Digital micrometer displaying 3.949 mm at another point on a nominal 4 mm stainless steel sheet.
The third photographed spot measurement reads 3.949 mm. The photographs are not a complete batch tolerance report.

The 4mm figure is the nominal order thickness. Acceptance depends on the agreed tolerance, measurement procedure and inspection record; three photographed readings do not establish the thickness of every point on every sheet.

The tape photographs document checks against the 1524mm width and 6096mm length requirements. Because the full setup and zero reference are outside these close views, they should be read as inspection illustrations rather than a replacement for a signed dimensional report.

The heat reference on the parent-coil label also appears in the finished sheet marking. Keeping that link through processing helps the buyer connect the delivered sheet with its source material certificate.

The TISCO material certificate behind the order

The redacted mill certificate accompanies the case as a reference for the parent coil. It records the source material’s chemistry and mechanical test results. The finished sheet dimensions come from the processing specification and inspection records.

Ordering 304 2B 4mm sheet from Sheye Metal

As a 304 2B cold rolled stainless steel sheet supplier and stockist serving international customers, Sheye Metal plans stock around the dimensions its buyers use. For this Colombian order, that meant a 1524mm finished width, 6096mm length and slit edges, with the parent-coil identity retained through processing.

For a quotation on 304 2B 4mm × 1524mm stainless steel sheet, send the required length, quantity, delivery destination, standard and edition, dimensional tolerances, edge condition, and any protective-film or packaging requirements. If your drawing calls for 5′ × 20′, include both that notation and 1524 × 6096mm so the finished dimensions are clear.

Email the sheet specification to sales@sheyemetal.com, or contact Sheye Metal on WhatsApp to check the current coil allocation and processing schedule.
