An Australian customer required 304 Wide Stainless Steel Plate in a nominal size of 8 × 2500 × 6000 mm. The 2500 mm width made the production route a central part of the order. Sheye Metal arranged individually rolled hot-rolled plate and carried out its own inspection before dispatch, checking the material identification, dimensions and surface condition.

This case shows how Sheye supports wide-plate procurement beyond its regular coil-cut sizes. Buyers looking for 2500mm wide 304 stainless steel plate can discuss the mill route, quantity and inspection requirements through our 304 Stainless Steel Plate product page.

Why this 2500 mm order needed individually rolled plate

At 8 mm nominal thickness, coil-cut plate is a common purchasing route in Sheye’s regular supply channels. Hot-rolled coil is levelled and cut to the required length. The regular coil-cut range available through this route extends to 2000 mm width, so it could not provide this order’s required 2500 mm width.

Sheye therefore selected individually rolled plate, also known as quarto plate. The mill rolls the material as plate, with the required finished dimensions forming part of the mill order. For this project, the choice was driven by the width requirement even though the nominal thickness was only 8 mm.

Discussing the rolling route early helps align the order with material that the mill can produce. Sheye’s stainless steel plate range includes both coil-cut and quarto supply options, while our 304 grade guide covers material selection and purchasing questions.

Mill coordination for one or two extra-wide plates

A small quantity can still require a dedicated mill supply plan. Sheye can coordinate custom orders for one or two extra-wide plates, including a review of the grade, dimensions and mill production arrangements. This capability is useful when a fabrication job needs a small number of wide plates that are difficult to source from regular stock.

As a 304 Wide Stainless Steel Plate Supplier, Sheye connects the customer’s requirement with the mill’s order details, follows production progress and coordinates the steps leading to inspection and delivery preparation. Keeping these activities connected gives the customer a practical point of contact throughout the supply process.

For a 304 Wide Stainless Steel Plate Stockist, checking available stock is the first step. When the required combination is outside regular inventory, Sheye reviews a suitable mill order. Confirming the production schedule and any special inspection requirements at quotation stage helps the buyer plan subsequent fabrication.

304 Wide Stainless Steel Plate NO.1 Finish

NO.1 is the hot-rolled, heat-treated and pickled surface associated with this plate order. The supplied photographs show the plate faces and their mill marking before dispatch. Surface review remains part of inspection, particularly where later cutting or fabrication will expose a large visible area. Our No.1 finish guide explains the finish and the information to include in an inquiry.

Buyers should describe the required plate face, edge condition and any surface acceptance criteria together with the dimensions. This allows the inspection plan to address what matters to the finished component.

Sheye’s inspection before dispatch

Sheye’s photographs document several complementary checks on the wide plate. The plate marking connects the physical material with its grade and traceability references. Handheld PMI adds an alloy-identification check, while micrometer and tape measurements record the dimensions at the inspected locations.

Thickness at multiple locations

The three micrometer photographs show readings of 8.570 mm, 8.619 mm and 8.554 mm. Recording actual readings makes the inspection more useful than repeating the nominal 8 mm order size. Dimensional acceptance is assessed against the tolerance agreed for the order; the photographed readings are individual measurements.

Width, length and plate surface

The inspection includes both an overall view of the tape across the plate and a close view near the edge. Width and length checks are especially relevant when the reason for selecting quarto plate is the required large format. The photographs below document checks for the nominal 2500 × 6000 mm plate.

PMI, dimensional measurement and surface review each contribute different information. Sheye brings them together with the material records as part of its quality and delivery process.

For export orders, Sheye follows its inspection with neutral packaging as part of delivery preparation. This connects mill sourcing and Sheye’s own checks with the customer’s shipping requirements. Packing arrangements are coordinated with the plate dimensions, quantity and destination.

Material certificate and plate traceability

The TISCO certificate dated 28 September 2026 identifies grade 304, heat C3603849 and ASME SA-240/SA-240M-2025. It records the NO.1, solution-annealed and pickled condition. The photographed material number H684184101200 matches a certificate line for nominal 8 × 2500 × 6000 mm plate.

The public certificate below has the purchasing organisation hidden. It accompanies the inspection photographs as a material reference, keeping the connection between the plate marking and mill record visible.

Request 304 stainless steel plate 2500mm wide

When comparing a 304 Wide Stainless Steel Plate Manufacturer and a supplier, ask who will roll the plate and who will coordinate the order and inspection. For this supply route, the steel mill performs the plate rolling; Sheye coordinates mill procurement, production follow-up and its own pre-dispatch checks.

Send the grade, nominal thickness, width, length, quantity, tolerances, finish and destination, together with any certificate or additional inspection requirements. Sheye can review requests for one or two wide plates as well as larger quantities. Explore our 304 plate supply options or contact sales@sheyemetal.com to discuss your wide-plate requirement.
