16–50 mm is the regular stock thickness range. Current grade, width, quantity and dispatch availability are confirmed at quotation.
Mill surface codes and decorative finish names are confirmed against the agreed description or sample. Additional processing depends on the grade, thickness and required finish.

For a project specifying 316L plate, provide the applicable material standard, plate dimensions and intended fabrication requirements. Connect the material specification with inspection, traceability and the destination's handling requirements.
Identify whether the dimensions refer to the delivered plate or a part to be cut from it. Include machining allowance, cutting requirements and any surface acceptance criteria in the inquiry.

Buying 316L Plate for Fabrication and Pressure Service
Why distinguish cut-to-length plate from quarto plate in a 316L enquiry?
Cut-to-length plate originates from continuously rolled coil; quarto plate follows an individual plate-rolling route. Even when the grade name is the same, the product route, thickness and delivery condition can lead to different applicable requirements. State the intended route and the governing specification when dimensions, flatness or mechanical acceptance are important. Check the relevant supply table and test basis instead of applying one datasheet row to every 316L plate.
What additional information is needed for welded or pressure-equipment plate?
The order should identify the design-related material specification and edition, delivery condition, traceability and required inspection documents. If impact or intergranular corrosion testing is needed, include the method, specimen condition and acceptance criteria. A chemistry match to another 316L designation does not automatically satisfy a pressure-vessel requirement, and low carbon does not waive weld procedure requirements. The applicable code and project specification determine what evidence is needed for the finished fabrication.
